The Bear Head (26 April 2026) is a photograph of KillersForLunch in a patterned interior, wearing a cartoon bear head of considerable size over an otherwise ordinary outfit of white shirt, red bow, and plaid skirt. One arm is raised in what reads as a greeting.
Description
The head is brown, round-eared, pink-cheeked, and several times larger than the body strictly requires. The bear's expression is neutral in the way of masks: whatever the artist's face was doing underneath is not recoverable. A bystander at the left edge of the frame is facing away, which the catalogue declines to interpret.
The bear line
This is the earliest documented instance of the artist's recurring commitment to bears, a thread that resurfaces three months later in the knitted hat of The Bear Hat Attack. The progression from full head to hat has been read as miniaturization, as economy, and as the ordinary softening of youthful conviction. The artist has not commented from inside either bear.
Provenance
Photographed at 03:21 local time. The whereabouts of the head are unknown; heads of this kind tend to return when least useful.
