You by Candlelight (documented 15 July 2026) is a drawing by KillersForLunch in a darkened interior, lit from the right by a single candle. It is the first work of the artist's Domestic Period and the only appearance of You in the form of a Rubik's cube.
Description
The body of You is a large cube face drawn in pink outline, its border divided into square stickers colored red, purple, gold, and green, with more stickers continuing along the bottom row. The center of the face is dark, and on this dark field sit the eyes and the great oval mouth, drawn in pale blue. Whiskers in the same blue extend from both sides of the cube. Below, two blue legs with flat feet emerge from under the body.
The word "you" and a long straight arrow are written above in blue, terminating at the cube's top edge.
The scramble
The visible stickers are not sorted into solid faces. The catalogue reads this as deliberate: You is depicted mid-scramble, or possibly as a cube that has never been solved and does not regard this as a deadline. The face in the center, serene as always, supports the second reading.
Composition
This is the most chromatically complex work in the corpus, employing at least six colors where every earlier work used one. The candle at the right margin, a real object in the room, supplies the light and the occasion. Cubing by candlelight is not a recognized discipline, but the work makes a case for it.
Provenance
Photographed 15 July 2026 at 01:18 local time. A second work, Still Life with You, was documented in a different room of the same venue seventy-six minutes later, making this the only documented instance of two appearances of You in a single night. The implications for the migration question (see You (character)) are under review.
