Myew (documented 10 July 2026) is a drawing by KillersForLunch on a dark red shelf, executed in yellow marker. It is the only known work in which the artist wrote a word other than "you", and its standing within the catalogue of You is contested.
Description
The figure sits between two objects on the shelf: a red-framed picture screen to the left and a squat black vessel to the right. It has the rounded body, paired eyes, wide mouth, and lateral whiskers characteristic of You, and stands on the same thin legs. It also has two triangular ears and a small triangular nose, features never documented on You before or since.
Above the figure the artist wrote "MYeW" and drew an arrow downward to the head. The word is understood to be a vocalization rather than a name, transcribed by the artist at the moment of utterance.
The attribution question
Three positions are held in the literature:
- Myew is You, wearing ears. The whisker count, mouth width, and leg construction are all consistent with the type specimen You, Indicated. Under this reading the artist did not label the figure because the identity was self-evident, and instead recorded what it said.
- Myew is a distinct individual, possibly a companion animal kept by You. Proponents note that You has never vocalized in any other documented appearance.
- Myew is You practicing. This position holds that You, whose body plan is known to be flexible (see You by Candlelight, Still Life with You), was rehearsing cathood and was interrupted by documentation.
This encyclopedia catalogues the work under You pending further sightings. No further sightings have occurred.
Composition
The yellow line stands out sharply against the dark red shelf. The placement between the screen and the vessel has been read as deliberate: the figure faces outward from between two objects that cannot see, and says myew.
Provenance
Photographed at 01:05 local time. The shelf and both flanking objects remain in place. The drawing does not.
